Setsubun
(Setsubun is the day before the first day of spring in the traditional Japanese calendar.)
We celebrate Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event that marks the beginning of spring.
Children take part in a fun activity called mamemaki, where they throw roasted soybeans while shouting,"Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" – "Demons out! Good luck in!"
Wearing playful oni (demon) masks and enjoying this seasonal tradition, children learn about Japanese culture while wishing for a healthy and happy year.
