Daycare / Our sample schedule

These are what our children do at Starchild!
Hours of operation: 8:30 am-3:30 pm (4:30 pm on Mondays)

8:20-8:40 am: Drop-off and play

  • We ask parents about the child—his/her/their conditions, mood, etc.
  • We play with the children and get a sense of how they do firsthand
  • The children also have time to interact with each other and enjoy each other's company

8:45 am: Good morning!

  • We exchange greetings, review the calendar, sing songs, do fingerplays, etc.
  • We read picture books for the children
  • We eat snacks (only for the children in Kotori [birdie] class)

9:00 -11:30 am: Outdoor morning session

  • We usually play with musical instruments, do exercise, and make things together
  • Depending on the weather, we stroll and go out to parks, water pools, etc.

11:30 am: Eating lunch, brushing teeth, and using he bathroom

  • We eat lunch all together
  • For the children in Usagi [rabbit] class, we help them enjoy the process of finishing their lunches.
  • For the children in Hiyoko [chick] and Kotori classes, we help them eat and teach them the fun of eating.
  • We teach the children of the importance of brushing their teeth and going to the bathroom after a meal.

12:30 pm: Reading to children, and then putting them to bed

  • Though not all children may not need a nap, we teach them the importance of taking a rest during the day

2:30 pm: Snack time! (snacks prepared by parents)

3:00 pm: Farewell session

  • We conclude the day, and read books to the children.
  • We sing a farewell song, and say goodbye.

3:20-3:40 pm: Pick-up time (4:20-4:40 pm on Mondays)

  • Hours of operation are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Mondays
  • We update parents on how their child did for the day

3:30-5:00 pm: Afterschool program & extra-hours daycare

☆Afterschool program runs from 3:30 to 4:30 pm
Music education on Mondays
Hiragana (Japanese syllabary) on Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Music education and Hiragana taught by professionally trained instructors
  • For the children too young to receive these lessons, they play with our nursery teachers.
