Message from the Principle / Special Lecture1

In November 2024, I gave a lecture at Tohoku University in Miyagi, Japan
titled "The Realities of Running a Japanese-Style Nursery School by an NPO in New York."

I shared my experiences in establishing an NPO and opening a nursery school in New York,
including the background, an overview of the organization, the activities involved, the management challenges we face, and our future prospects.

Many of the attendees were international students from Asia, Europe, and South America.
The lecture was conducted in English.

The lecture aimed to achieve two objectives:
1. Solving various social issues and creating social value
2. Acquiring basic knowledge and concepts related to nonprofit organization management
Through lectures, case studies, student presentations, and discussions, we explored these topics.

Here is a part of the feedback I received after the lecture.

◎We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Mukai for delivering such an insightful and inspiring lecture. The practical experiences and valuable lessons he shared, particularly regarding the operation of non-profit organizations and the importance of facing challenges with decisiveness, were truly enlightening. We are grateful that he took the time to share his journey with us and motivated us to pursue our dreams without fear. His words will leave a lasting impact on us forever.

◎In this lecture, I was able to learn a great deal about the practical aspects of running an NPO. The speaker shared his personal experiences and insights as a business owner, explaining how he was able to provide better educational opportunities for children, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced in NPO management. In fact, several points from his summary left a strong impression on me. This dream has always fueled my efforts and made me believe that one day I can make it a reality. When faced with difficulties, I no longer choose to compromise or give up. Moreover, I believe that finding the right partners is incredibly important. By finding like-minded people and supporting and encouraging each other, you realize that you are not alone, even in the most hopeless situations. Additionally, the discussion on access to financial aid, financial management safety, especially how to choose a bank and manage credit scores, was quite novel to me, and it made me want to study more about it after the lecture. Thank you very much for providing me with the opportunity to learn about this NPO.
